Ibanez pays visit to Royals camp, dons uniform

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Raul Ibanez, who became a mentor for several Royals players during the second half of the 2014 season, visited camp on Sunday morning.

And he wound up in uniform.

Ibanez exchanged hugs and high-fives with numerous players in the clubhouse, evidence of how popular he was after signing midway through the team's magical 2014 season.

Senior director of team travel and clubhouse operations Jeff Davenport made sure Ibanez donned his familiar No. 18 as he made the rounds.

Hosmer on Ibanez's impact

"Just a terrific guy," manager Ned Yost said of Ibanez.

Ibanez was in town because one of his sons was playing in a nearby baseball tournament.

"It's fun being back talking with all these guys," Ibanez said.
