Strasburg scratched from start due to ingrown toenail

VIERA, Fla. -- Nationals right-hander Stephen Strasburg has been scratched from Thursday's start against the Mets after having an ingrown toenail removed. A.J. Cole will start for Washington in his place.

Strasburg will still pitch on Thursday, but at the Nationals' Minor League camp instead, where the team can control his innings and situations -- such as keeping him from running to cover first base.

"He's a little bit sore moving around, running around," manager Matt Williams said. "He's perfectly fine."

In his debut this spring, Strasburg gave up two runs on three hits with two walks and two strikeouts in 1 2/3 innings.
