Rays sign rehabbing Venters to two-year Minors deal

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- The Rays have signed left-hander Jonny Venters to a two-year Minor League deal.

Venters, who turns 30 on March 20, is recovering from his third Tommy John surgery, which was performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache on Sept. 16 in Los Angeles.

In three seasons with the Braves (2010-12), Venters compiled a 15-10 record and a 2.23 ERA over 230 relief appearances. He was a National League All-Star in '11.

Venters reported to the Rays' Minor League camp and will continue his rehab at the Charlotte Sports Complex this season.
