Mets to hold competition for chance to perform Anthem

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- The Mets will host an "Anthem Search" competition on March 24 at Citi Field, with the winner performing the National Anthem before the team's Sept. 18 Subway Series game against the Yankees. Auditions for the general public begin at 10 a.m. ET.

The first 100 performers to arrive at Citi's Hodges VIP gate along the first-base line will be guaranteed an audition to sing a song of their choice -- excluding the National Anthem -- a cappella. Season-ticket holders may audition beginning at 9 a.m.

Judges will select finalists for a final round of auditions, which will take place at a later date. The auditions are free and open to all ages. Those under 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. More information is available at mets.com/anthemsearch.
