Dozier looks to return from illness Monday

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Twins second baseman Brian Dozier was a late scratch from Saturday's lineup due to illness, but he was able to get through workouts without any issues on Sunday and is hopeful to return to action on Monday.

Dozier's voice still sounded hoarse, but he was able to get through a normal day of workouts and watched the early part of Sunday's game from the bench.

Twins general manager Terry Ryan was encouraged by Dozier's progress, as the Twins have dealt with a rash of illnesses early in camp with Trevor Plouffe, Trevor May, Jordan Schafer, Byron Buxton and Oswaldo Arcia missing time with the flu.

"I saw him, and he was doing everything everyone was doing," Ryan said.
