"He's a little better today, but we'll give him another day," explained Gibbons, who added Bautista will be back in the lineup on Sunday when the Blue Jays host the Pirates.
"We don't think this is going to linger too long," the manager added.
Bautista could also play again on Monday when they play split-squad games against the Astros at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium and the Tigers in Lakeland, according to Gibbons.
Bautista has played in just one of the Blue Jays' five exhibition games this spring. He has one hit in three plate appearances.
But Gibbons said Saturday he isn't worried about Bautista's lack of work.
"When you can hit, you can hit," Gibbons declared, smiling.
