SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Before fashioning one of baseball's hottest starts in April and May and before being chosen by peers to the National League All-Star Game in July, Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon was nervous about even making the team last year.

Blackmon hit .236 with seven strikeouts in 55 at-bats last spring, and the stats didn't offer evidence to back manager Walt Weiss' faith in him as the team's leadoff hitter. But, answering a question during his appearance in the Edward Jones Chatting Cage on Wednesday, Blackmon said the tense end of 2014 camp wound up his favorite Spring Training memory.

"The manager called six outfielders into the office," Blackmon said. "I was thinking, 'Great. Somebody's getting cut. It's probably going to be me.' For him to tell us that we all made the team -- six outfielders -- was just a huge weight off my shoulders."

It was Blackmon's first Opening Day roster appearance.

Blackmon's appearance was the first installment of the Edward Jones Chatting Cage in 2015.

Blackmon's top spring memory

Blackmon also talked about the quirky fireball gif of him walking away from an explosion, which appeared on various social media platforms, the humor of teammate Christian Friedrich, the health of the club and his visit to the X-Games among other subjects.

And, the color of the dress that recently caused a stir on social media?

"Definitely white and gold," he said.
