D-backs take cover to stay on task despite downpour

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Despite the rain, the D-backs were able to get most of their work in Monday morning on the eve of their first exhibition game of the spring.

The pitchers who were scheduled to throw bullpen sessions were able to get them in before the showers hit Salt River Fields.

Once the rain started, the D-backs moved their batting practice from outside into the covered cages, where they were divided into teams for what was called a game of "Well Hit" to see which team could come up with the best hits.

Sliding drills, which were scheduled for outside, were moved into the covered batting areas as well.
