Rain washes out Royals' intrasquad contest

SURPRISE, Ariz. -- Heavy rains washed out the Royals' intrasquad game on Monday, and manager Ned Yost said the club doesn't plan on making it up on Tuesday.

"Hopefully the conditions will be better Tuesday and we can have our normal routine then," Yost said.

Also from camp:

Alex Gordon, still rehabbing from right wrist surgery last December, said he continues to hit soft toss and off the tee. He has a schedule for when he will first face live pitching, but Gordon said he will keep that information private. "It's all pretty much mapped out and we're on schedule," he said.

• Right-hander Luke Hochevar was scheduled to throw his first live batting practice session on Monday -- that will likely get pushed back to Tuesday.

• Right-hander Ryan Madson, trying to make a comeback after having not pitched in the Majors since 2011, was scheduled for a side session on Monday, but he was scratched as a precaution because of slight stiffness in his back.
