Test results reveal inflammation in Upton's left foot

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. - An x-ray and MRI exam today on Atlanta Braves outfielder Melvin Upton's left foot revealed that he has sesamoiditis (inflammation in the bone behind the ball of the foot). His foot will be in a short leg cast for two weeks, then in a walking boot for approximately four to six weeks. Upton will miss the bulk of spring training and is expected to be able to begin baseball activities in early April.
