Ziegler throws off mound for first time since knee surgery

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- D-backs reliever Brad Ziegler threw off a mound Tuesday for the first time since he had microfracture surgery on his left knee last September.

Ziegler threw 16 pitches, all fastballs.

"It was a good start," Ziegler said. "I was tired after about six [pitches]. I was excited for it. I felt like it went well. The question is how it will feel tomorrow."

D-backs manager Chip Hale reiterated that he expects Ziegler to be healthy in time for Opening Day.
