Fox Sports Detroit expands to analyst rotation for 2015 Tigers season

Rod Allen, Kirk Gibson and Jack Morris will provide analysis for Tigers on FSD

FOX Sports Detroit is thrilled to announce a rotation of the analyst chair for the 2015 Tigers season.

Former Major League Baseball outfielder and manager Kirk Gibson and former MLB pitcher Jack Morris will join Rod Allen in a rotation that will provide Tigers fans with an array of perspectives from hitting, pitching and management. Mario Impemba will continue to provide play-by-play.

Gibson, who has managed the Arizona Diamondbacks for the last five seasons (2010-14), returns to the booth where he served as a color analyst on FOX Sports Detroit from 1998-2002. He began his coaching career as a bench coach for the Tigers from 2003-2005 under manager Alan Trammell. Gibson played 17 seasons in the major leagues with the Tigers, Los Angeles Dodgers, Kansas City Royals and Pittsburgh Pirates. He was also a member of the 1984 World Series champion Tigers and the 1988 Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers.

"I'm looking forward to getting back in the booth this season," said Gibson. "I'm excited to offer some insights as both a player and manager on such a talented team and organization as the Detroit Tigers."

Morris, who made a handful of cameo appearances on Tigers telecasts alongside Impemba and Allen during the 2014 season, was a five-time All-Star (1981, 1984, 1985, 1987 and 1991) and played on four World Series champion teams (1984 Tigers, 1991 Twins and 1992-1993 Blue Jays). He is also a pre-game color analyst and game analyst for Minnesota Twins telecasts on FOX Sports North. He recently worked as an analyst for MLB broadcasts on FOX Sports 1 as well.

"It was so great to be back in Detroit for the six games last season," said Morris. "The fans in Detroit have always been incredible."

Spring training on FOX Sports Detroit -- presented by Weingartz and Southgate Lincoln -- begins on March 22, when we air a broadcast by FOX Sports South of Tigers vs. Atlanta Braves in Disney. We will produce a four-game schedule from Lakeland -- presented by Belle Tire -- including March 25 (vs. Miami Marlins), March 26 (vs. Baltimore Orioles), March 30 (vs. Atlanta Braves) and April 3 (vs. the Tampa Bay Rays). In addition, we've added a Sun Sports production of Tigers vs. Rays at Tropicana Field on April 4 to the schedule.

"All of us at FOX Sports Detroit are excited to welcome back Jack and Kirk to our Tigers broadcasting team for the 2015 season," said Greg Hammaren, senior vice president and general manager of FOX Sports Detroit. "The Tigers are an elite team and the unique perspectives that Jack, Kirk and Rod can each share will bring another level of expertise and excitement that Tigers fans deserve."
