Mordecai promoted as Blue Jays set Minor League staffs

The Blue Jays have set their Minor League field staffs for the 2015 season, with the announcements of Mike Mordecai as coordinator of instruction, Danny Solano as roving infield coach and Aaron Mathews as hitting coach for Rookie-level Bluefield.

Mordecai was promoted from his role as Minor League infield coordinator, which he held for the past five seasons. Following the 2013 season, he was recognized with the Bobby Mattick Award for excellence in player development.

Solano has been with the Blue Jays since 2007, with the bulk of his coaching career coming with Toronto's Gulf Coast League affiliate.

Mathews spent seven seasons in the Blue Jays' Minor League system after being selected by the club in the 2004 First-Year Player Draft.

Fred McGriff, who served in an advisory role with the Blue Jays from 2013-14, has left for a consultant position with the Braves.
