On the surface, Rays catcher Toby Hall has been the leader to fill the spot for some time and he continues to do well, hitting .304 and playing good defense.
But Hall has since been joined by a host of other candidates.
Carl Crawford, the Rays' representative for the 2004 Mid-Summer Classic, is coming on strong. Entering Monday night's game with the Brewers, Crawford had a .278 average with seven homers, 39 RBIs and 18 stolen bases.
Damon Hollins is another possibility. The 30-year-old rookie is hitting .324 with six home runs and 18 RBIs; and Jorge Cantu is coming on strong, too, at .293 with seven home runs and 30 RBIs
