Giants delay decision on Affeldt

SAN FRANCISCO -- As of pregame Wednesday, no decision had yet been made on Giants left-handed reliever Jeremy Affeldt, but Giants manager Bruce Bochy said the team hoped to make a decision prior to its upcoming road trip.

"He's not quite making the improvement we would like, or he would like, so we'll see how he's doing after the game and talk about his situation," Bochy said.

Affeldt has made one appearance since injuring his left hamstring May 23, but left that outing after retweaking it.

Bochy said placing Affeldt on the disabled list was a "possibility," and Affeldt said he'd be willing to go on the DL if that's what it took to get healthy.

"I want to get to where it's going to be sustainable for 4 1/2 months," Affeldt said. "I'd rather do that [go on the DL] than be out for a long time."

In other injury news, Bochy said infielder Emmanuel Burriss (left foot fracture) could be ready to play -- whether in the Majors or Minors -- around the All-Star break.
