Nationals sign Ka'aihue to Minor League deal

WASHINGTON -- The Nationals signed first baseman Kila Ka'aihue to a Minor League deal with an invitation to Major League Spring Training.

Ka'aihue played the last two seasons for the Hiroshima Carp of the Japan Central League. In 88 games last year, Ka'aihue hit .257 with 11 home runs and 40 RBIs.

Ka'aihue last played in the Majors in 2012 with the Athletics. He also spent some time with the Royals. In 126 big league appearances, Ka'aihue produced a .221 batting average with 15 home runs and 46 RBIs.
