RHP Matt West claimed on waivers by Toronto Blue Jays

Arlington, Texas - The Texas Rangers today announced that right-handed pitcher Matt West was received by the Toronto Blue Jays from Texas in a waiver claim.

West had been designated for assignment by Texas on January 5 when the team signed free agent infielder Adam Rosales. The 26-year-old West allowed 3 runs/earned runs over 3 relief appearances and 4.0 innings for the Rangers in July, his first major league action. He was also 5-3 with 4 saves and a 3.34 ERA (21 ER/56.2 IP) in 41 games/one start for Frisco (AA) and Round Rock (AAA). The club's second round selection in the 2007 June draft, he converted to the mound in 2011 after beginning his pro career as an infielder.
