The Padres have signed right-hander Jose Valverde to a Minor League contract, according to a Baseball America report.
Valverde, 36, has racked up 288 saves across 12 seasons in the Majors and was most recently a member of the New York Mets. He made 21 relief appearances for the Mets last season, posting a 5.66 ERA before he was released in late May.
Valverde is a three-time All-Star, but he hasn't played a full season since 2012.
The report also said the Padres have agreed to terms with left-hander Scott Elbert and right-hander Marcos Mateo.
