The 2015 Cubs Convention will feature new manager Joe Maddon, his coaching staff, current players -- including Jon Lester -- alumni, Minor Leaguers, broadcasters and team executives.
Besides Lester, the list of confirmed Major League players includes Arismendy Alcantara, Jake Arrieta, Javier Baez, Dallas Beeler, Welington Castillo, Starlin Castro, Chris Coghlan, Justin Grimm, Jason Hammel, Kyle Hendricks, Edwin Jackson, Eric Jokisch, Tommy La Stella, Rafael Lopez, Miguel Montero, Jason Motte, Mike Olt, Blake Parker, Neil Ramirez, Anthony Rizzo, Hector Rondon, Zac Rosscup, Brian Schlitter, Jorge Soler, Dan Straily, Pedro Strop, Ryan Sweeney, Matt Szczur, Jacob Turner, Luis Valbuena, Tsuyoshi Wada, and Travis Wood.
Kris Bryant, the Cubs' Minor League Player of the Year, headlines the list of Minor Leaguers scheduled to take part in the convention. Others include Albert Almora, C.J. Edwards, Pierce Johnson, Addison Russell and Kyle Schwarber.
Cubs alumni scheduled to attend include Hall of Famers Fergie Jenkins and Billy Williams, as well as George Altman, Glenn Beckert, Ryan Dempster, Bob Dernier, Mark DeRosa, Leon Durham, Bob Howry, Randy Hundley, Jay Johnstone, Jacque Jones, Les Lancaster, Jon Lieber, Ted Lilly, Bill Madlock, Gary Matthews, Dave Otto, Milt Pappas, Glendon Rusch, Lee Smith, Tim Stoddard, Rick Sutcliffe, Steve Trout and Kerry Wood.
Maddon will introduce his coaching staff at the event, as well. The Cubs Convention will mark the return of former players Dave Martinez, now Maddon's bench coach, who played for the team from 1986-88 and again in 2000, and Henry Blanco, who played in Chicago from 2005-08. Blanco, who retired in Spring Training last year, is now Maddon's quality assurance coach.
