Blue Jays pluck pitchers Barnes, Guilmet off waivers

The Blue Jays filled their 40-man roster with a pair of arms Tuesday, claiming Scott Barnes and Preston Guilmet off waivers from the Rangers and Pirates, respectively.

Barnes, a left-hander, was designated for assignment Dec. 16 just eight days after the Rangers had claimed him off waivers from the Orioles.

Barnes spent the 2014 season in the Indians' organization, pitching for Triple-A Columbus. He went 3-2 with a 3.69 ERA in 25 games.

Guilmet, a right-hander, appeared in 10 games for the Orioles in '14, allowing six earned runs in 10 1/3 innings.
