Royals request release waivers for outfielder Peguero

The Royals have requested release waivers for outfielder Carlos Peguero, the team announced Friday. The 27-year-old spent the majority of the 2014 season with Triple-A Omaha, batting .266 with 30 home runs and 76 RBIs.

He was called up by the Royals on Sept. 1 and appeared in four Major League games, going 2-for-9 with a double and an RBI.

Through parts of four Major League seasons with the Mariners and Royals, Peguero has hit .196 with nine homers and 28 RBIs in 69 games.

The Royals' 40-man roster now sits at 39.
