Finger injury to briefly sideline infielder Rojas

Dodgers shortstop will reportedly miss one week with dislocated left pinkie

Finger injury to briefly sideline infielder Rojas

SAN DIEGO -- Dodgers shortstop Miguel Rojas dislocated his left little finger while playing in the Venezuelan Winter League, but X-rays revealed no fractures and he is expected to miss one week.

The news was reported on the website of La Guaira, Rojas' team in Venezuela. The Dodgers have not confirmed the report.

Rojas' importance to the Dodgers has increased with Hanley Ramirez's free-agent departure to the Red Sox, especially if the Dodgers do not acquire another shortstop and fill the position internally with a combination of Rojas, Erisbel Arruebarrena and Justin Turner.

Rojas became Ramirez's frequent defensive replacement as a rookie this past season after spending eight seasons in the Minor Leagues without playing above Double-A. In 2014, Rojas played in 85 games with the Dodgers after a June 6 callup, batting .181.
