MANAGING CAREER
Begins his fifth season as manager (316-308) and fourth full season...Was named the 19th manager in franchise history on 5/4/15, replacing Ron Roenicke..Signed a 3-year contract extension through 2020 on 11/11/16..The team has improved its record in each of his three full seasons as manager (73-89 in 2016, 86-76 in 2017 and 96-67 in 2018)..Led the team to the best record in the National League last season (96-67).....the 96 victories in 2018 tied the franchise record for the regular season (also 2011)..Led the team to 102 wins overall in 2018 (including the postseason), setting a new franchise record for a single year...Finished second in 2018 National League Manager of the Year voting behind only the Braves' Brian Snitker...Finished fourth in 2017 National League Manager of the Year voting as he led the team to a 13-win improvement (86-76).....the Brewers were eliminated on the penultimate day of the season, falling a game behind Colorado (87-75) for the second NL Wild Card spot...Guided the team to a 5-win improvement (73-89) during his first full season in 2016, including going 17-13 over the final 30 games • Did not have any coaching/managing experience prior to being named manager of the Brewers.....prior to his current position, served as a special assistant to the general manager (2012-15).


PLAYING CAREER
The former infielder played 16 seasons in the Major Leagues with Colorado (1995, 1997), Florida (1997-99), Los Angeles (1999), Arizona (2000-03, 2005-06) and Milwaukee (2004, 2007-11)...Hit .255 with 42 HR, 390 RBI and 103 SB in 1,624 career games...Was a member of the 1997 World Series champion Marlins and 2001 World Series champion Diamondbacks...Scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the 11th inning of Game 7 in the 1997 World Series vs. Cleveland (10/26/97).....also sent that game to extra innings with a ninth-inning sacrifice fly...Was named Most Valuable Player of the 2001 NLCS vs. Atlanta, batting .381 (8-for-21) with 4 RBI in 5 games...Is the all-time Brewers franchise leader in career pinch hits (41) and pinch-hit at-bats (167)...Was selected by Colorado in the 11th round of the 1992 draft.


PERSONAL/MISCELLANEOUS
Is married.....wife's name is Michelle.....the couple has two sons, Brady and Jack, and two daughters, Finley and Rowan...Is a 1988 graduate of Whitefish Bay (WI) High School...Graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1992 with a degree in accounting...In 2012, the town of Whitefish Bay named the park that is home to the Whitefish Bay Little League in his honor...He and his family support a number of causes, including the Urban Ecology Center in Milwaukee, the Malaika Early Learning Center, the Boys & Girls Clubs and Notre Dame Athletics...His father, John, was an outfielder in the Twins organization from 1964-68.....John Counsell also worked for the Brewers as director of the speakers bureau (1979-85) and director of community relations (1986-87)...The spikes that Craig wore when he scored the game-winning run of the 1997 World Series were on display at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, NY.
