The longest game in the history of the Midsummer Classic remained deadlocked at 1 until the 15th inning, when Tony Perez capitalized on a mistake from Catfish Hunter for a solo homer to left field. Each of the 12 pitchers who entered the game fanned at least one batter. The National League did not score for 12 consecutive innings -- the third through the 14th -- and the American League was shut out for the last nine.
