With the temperature a blistering 105 degrees, this game turned into a pitchers' duel. The American League scored its lone run in the second inning, after Brooks Robinson tripled off Sandy Koufax, then scored on a wild pitch. The National League tied the game in the fourth on singles by Willie Mays, Roberto Clemente and Ron Santo. The score remained tied at 1 until the 10th, when Maury Wills delivered a walk-off single to bring home Tim McCarver.
