The National League picked up its fourth consecutive All-Star Game victory with a 5-1 win at Crosley Field in Cincinnati. (All five victories came against AL manager Casey Stengel, who had led the Yankees to four straight World Series.) The game is perhaps best known for the remarkable catch made by St. Louis' Enos Slaughter on a line drive to right field by Harvey Kuenn.
