Gary Sanchez studied some charts in the dugout and backed up his research with a booming homer

The phrase "student of the game" is often thrown out there in reference to any professional athlete, as adapting and learning new things is an important element for success. 

Yankees catcher Gary Sanchez has done a lot of fast learning on the fly since making his debut in the Bronx in 2015, swatting homers with ease and helping the #BabyBombers move to just a game from a World Series berth -- which they accomplished with a 5-0 win over the Astros in Game 5 of the American League Championship Series presented by Camping World on Wednesday. 

With New York hitting in the bottom of the sixth, here's Gary in the dugout doing some studious research on, we assume, the Astros bullpen:

When Sanchez's spot in the lineup came up an inning later, then, what do you think happened? Yep, he crushed a solo homer off Brad Peacock to more or less put the game on ice. A blast like that warrants some admiring:
