After playing the first two months of the season with the Double-A Frisco RoughRiders, Joey Gallo made his Major League debut as a member of the Texas Rangers on June 1.
Gallo's departure left a major hole in the center of the RoughRiders lineup, but not for long. Below, RoughRiders CEO Chuck Greenberg stands proudly beside his team's latest acquisition -- a new (and arguably improved) Joey G.
That would be "Uncle" Joey Gladstone -- a.k.a. Canadian actor/comedian Dave Coulier -- who will be the guest of honor during Friday's "Full House Night" at Frisco's Dr Pepper Ballpark.
Coulier is slated to sign autographs and throw out a ceremonial first pitch -- a cut (it out) fastball, most likely -- while the RoughRiders take the field in uber-colorful Full House-referencing theme jerseys. These jerseys go a long way toward transforming "Frisco" into "San Francisco," as they include Full House opening credit signifiers such as the Golden Gate Bridge and "Painted Ladies" Victorian homes.
RoughRiders general manager Jason Dambach reports that the team has a cavalcade of Tanner family fun planned for the evening, including but not limited to:
- One fan winning a trip for two to San Francisco
- Dave Coulier judging a Full House character look-a-like contest. (Entries will soon be accepted via social media. Dambach reports that "We expect a lot of entries from dogs that look like Comet.")
- A "Full House-inspired" team intro video
- Jesse and the Rippers music playing all evening long
With all of this going on, who needs Joey Gallo?
