Brandon Hyde was named the 20th manager in Orioles history on December 14, 2018...Begins his first Major League managerial role following 16 professional seasons in the coaching ranks and four professional seasons as a player...Most recently served as the Chicago Cubs bench coach in 2018, his second season in that role (also 2014)...Spent three seasons as the Cubs first base coach from 2015-17, and previously served as Chicago's Director of Player Development from August 2012-13, after joining the Cubs in December of 2011 as their Minor League Field Coordinator...The Cubs qualified for the postseason four times during his tenure, including winning the franchise's first World Series title in 108 years in 2016...Prior to joining the Cubs, spent nine seasons in the Marlins organization...Served as Marlins bench coach from June 2010 through 2011, and served as Miami's interim manager on June 19, 2011 against Tampa Bay, following the resignation of manager Edwin Rodriguez...Began 2010 as the Marlins Minor League Infield Coordinator, after serving the previous five seasons (2005-09) as a manager across three different levels of the Marlins minor league system...Served as Double-A Jacksonville's manager during 2009, leading the Suns to the Southern League Championship...Following the season, he managed the Mesa Solar Sox in the Arizona Fall League...In 2008, served as the manager at Class A-Advanced Jupiter, and in 2007, was the manager at Double-A Carolina...Managed Class-A Greensboro from 2005-06, the team that he received his professional coaching start with in 2003, serving as Greensboro's Hitting Coach for the second half of the 2003 season and all of 2004 before being promoted to manager.

Spent four seasons as a catcher and first baseman in the White Sox organization after signing as an undrafted free agent out of Long Beach State (CA) on June 20, 1997...Reached Triple-A in 2000 and played for the Chico Heat of the Independent Western League in 2001...Hit .252 with 15 home runs and 104 RBI in 200 games from 1997-2001.

Hyde and his wife, Lisa, reside in Evanston, IL with their daughters, Aria and Addison, and son, Colton...Attended Long Beach State University (CA), St. Mary's College (CA), and Santa Rosa Junior College (CA).
